Yes, a walk-in tattoo in Hanoi is easy: our studio at 59C Ly Nam De, about 500 m from the Old Quarter, welcomes walk-ins every day from 09:00 to 21:00, and small pieces can often be done the same day, depending on artist availability. A small walk-in tattoo starts at a flat 1,000,000 VND (about $38). Bigger or custom work is better booked ahead.

This page explains how a walk-in tattoo works at Electric Tattoo, what flash is, what it costs, and when you should book instead.
Walk-in tattoo in Hanoi: the short answer
- Where: 59C Ly Nam De, Hoan Kiem, about 500 m from the Old Quarter.
- When: 09:00 to 21:00, every day.
- Same day? Often, for small pieces. It depends on which artists are free when you arrive.
- Price: 1,800,000–2,200,000 VND (about $69–85) per hour, or a flat 1,000,000 VND (about $38) for tattoos under 30 minutes. Same price for everyone, Vietnamese or foreign.
- Age: 18 or older. Bring ID.

What is flash, and how is it different from custom?
Flash tattoos are designs drawn before you arrive. You pick one from a sheet or a book, the artist sizes it to your body, and you can get it the same visit. Flash is the fastest walk-in tattoo option when your time in Hanoi is short.
A custom tattoo is drawn for you. You bring the idea, the artist sketches it, and you adjust it until you love it. Simple custom designs can be sketched on the spot. Complex pieces take 3 to 7 days for one or two drafts.
- Choose flash if you want something small, quick and ready to go today.
- Choose custom if you have a personal idea, a specific placement or a larger piece in mind.
Either way, every design at Electric is our own. We never copy another artist’s work, not even for a quick small piece.
Flash days and souvenir flash
Electric runs flash days and souvenir flash, small designs made to be a memory of your trip to Vietnam. Dates and designs change, so we do not list them here. Follow us on Instagram at @electric.tattoo.vn or message us to ask what is on during your stay.

A souvenir walk-in tattoo is a good fit for a short stay: small, quick, and a story to take home.
How much does a small walk-in tattoo cost?
We use one price formula for every client. There is no tourist price for a walk-in tattoo.
- Under 30 minutes: flat 1,000,000 VND (about $38). Even a tiny tattoo uses a full new set of needles, ink and supplies.
- Mini tattoos or a few small pieces in one visit: 1,800,000–2,200,000 VND (about $69–85) per hour.
- Bigger than mini: a package price per design, agreed after a free consultation.
- Master and award-winning artists: 3,000,000 to 3,500,000 VND (about $115 to $135) per hour.
As a guide, a mini tattoo up to about 5 × 5 cm usually falls between 1,000,000 and 4,600,000 VND (about $38 to $175), depending on line work, shading and color. These are reference prices, and you always get the exact price before we start. Full tables are on our tattoo price guide.
Walk-in tattoo tips: make the most of your visit
- Come early in the day. If the artists are busy, you still have time to wait or come back later.
- Bring references. Screenshots of styles, sizes and placements you like help the artist get it right fast.
- Know your size. Measure the spot on your body, or show it with your fingers. Size drives time and price.
- Bring ID. You must be 18 or older.
- Eat and drink water first. You will sit more comfortably on a full stomach.
- Check your plans. If you are heading to the beach or Ha Long Bay next, think about timing. You cannot swim until the tattoo is healed.
Planning the rest of your days in the city? The official Vietnam tourism site has ideas for Hanoi and beyond. Fit your walk-in tattoo near the end of the trip if beaches come next.
When you should book instead of a walk-in tattoo
A walk-in tattoo works best for small, simple pieces. Book ahead if:
- You want a large piece, a sleeve or a back piece.
- You want a complex custom design that needs drawing time.
- You want a specific artist. Some artists, like Horituan, are often booked up early.
- You only have one free day in Hanoi and cannot risk waiting.
Send your idea through our booking form or WhatsApp, and we will confirm a time. We ask for a deposit to hold a booking. Ask us for the terms.
Hygiene, even for a five-minute walk-in tattoo
A walk-in tattoo gets the same safety steps as a ten-hour session:
- New single-use needles for every client, never reused.
- Tools sterilized in a medical-grade autoclave before every session.
- New gloves and barrier film for every client.
- Imported inks from known brands, including Dynamic.
Our artists are certified and speak English with clients. You can see the space on our studio page and the full steps on our procedures page.
Aftercare while you travel
A small walk-in tattoo still needs care. We cover it with a second skin, a thin protective film you keep on for the first 72 hours. After that, wash it with clean water only, pat it dry with a clean paper towel, and apply a thin layer of tattoo balm up to 3 times a day.
- No swimming in the sea, pools or lakes until it is healed.
- Keep it out of the sun. Cover it with loose clothing.
- No alcohol for at least 7 days.
- Avoid heavy workouts that make you sweat a lot for about a week.
Full steps are on our aftercare page. Every tattoo comes with a lifetime warranty once healed, so if you come back to Vietnam, we can check it and touch it up when the warranty applies.
