ALCOHOL & STIMULANTS
Avoid for at least 7 days. Alcohol thins the blood and slow healing.
Follow these instructions to get the best possible healing — and the best final result. At Electric Tattoo Hanoi, we stay with you through the entire healing process and beyond, backed by a lifetime warranty on every tattoo. Questions along the way? Just reach out — we’re here for it.
Healing process goes through 3 key checkpoints
Here's what to watch for at each one.
Stage 01 - 0 to 72 hours
Once your tattoo is done, we apply a second skin to protect it for the first 72 hours. After 3 days, gently remove it and wash the area with clean water. Avoid bar soap or wet tissue – pat it dry with a clean paper towel, without rubbing.
For larger pieces, we may use a plastic wrap instead, to shield the tattoo from dust. Leave it on for 30 minutes to 1 hour, then remove and clean it the same way.
Stage 02 - After 3 days
You can shower from the first day, using clean water only – avoid chemical treatments, shampoo, or fragrances near the tattoo area while the second skin is still on. Skip extremely hot water, and never rub the tattoo.
Wear loose clothing and keep the area out of direct sunlight. No matter how itchy it feels, don’t peel or scratch – this can damage the tattoo and affect healing.
From day 3 onward, apply ointment, tattoo balm, or vitamin A&D up to 3 times a day, or whenever the skin feels dry. Keep this up daily until the tattoo is fully healed.
Stage 03 - After 7 days
Avoid alcohol and stimulants for the first 7 days. Most foods and drinks are fine – with a few exceptions for sensitive or keloid-prone skin, or Asian/Japanese-style tattoos, where beef, seafood, sticky rice, and river spinach should be avoided.
Stay hydrated with plenty of water and fresh juice. Hold off on strenuous exercise or sports (football, gym, etc.) that cause heavy sweating, as this can affect the healing tattoo.
A few simple rules for the first 2-3 weeks
skip these, and healing goes a lot smoother.
Healing looks different week to week.
Here's what's expected and what's not.
Mild swelling, redness, soreness, and some fluid or ink discharge in the first few days.
Scabbing and gradual peeling, with slight itchiness and redness. Color may look uneven as it peels, and skin can feel dry or wrinkled.
Scab fully peeled, but the deeper skin layer is still healing – color may look a little lighter than the final result.
Swelling, redness, or pain that worsens instead of improving after the first few days
Pus, yellow or green discharge, or an unusual smell from the tattoo
Fever, chills, or feeling unwell alongside tattoo symptoms
Spreading redness or heat around the tattooed area
Anything that doesn’t match the normal stages on the left.
If something feels off, don’t wait it out — reach out and let us take a look.
Full healing takes about a month — once the surface looks done, the skin underneath is still regenerating. After that, your tattoo should be fully healed. If you ever notice fading, blurring, or uneven color, come back and see us.
