Electric Tattoo is a tattoo studio Hanoi travelers can walk to: 59C Ly Nam De, Hoan Kiem, about 500 m from the Old Quarter. Walk-ins are welcome every day from 09:00 to 21:00, and tattoos start from 1,000,000 VND (about $38), the same price for everyone.
You’re wandering the Old Quarter, somewhere between a bowl of bún chả and an egg coffee, and you think: I want a tattoo to remember this trip. You don’t have to cross the city. This guide covers how walk-ins work, what it costs, which artist to choose, and how to look after a fresh tattoo while you keep traveling.

Why choose a tattoo studio Hanoi Old Quarter visitors can reach on foot?
Most travelers in Hanoi stay in or around the Old Quarter. Picking a tattoo studio Hanoi visitors can walk to means no taxi across town, time to come back and check your design before the session, and an easy stop if you have a question while it heals.
- Walk-in friendly: drop by, talk through your idea and see the artists’ portfolios in person.
- Same team, same standard: Ly Nam De is run by the same Electric Tattoo team that has been tattooing in Hanoi since 2011.
- Close to everything: grab a coffee, walk around Hoan Kiem Lake, and come back when your design is ready.

About Electric Tattoo, an award-winning tattoo studio Hanoi has known since 2011
Electric Tattoo was founded in 2011 by Wolf Nguyễn, who won Best Realistic at Taiwan I Love Tattoo 2018. The studio has collected 8 awards and more than 700 five-star Google reviews, most of them from international clients. Vietnamese artists such as Đen Vâu, 24K.Right, Da LAB and Vũ. have been tattooed here too. Every piece is designed from scratch for you. Nothing is copied.
Electric now has two locations, so the tattoo studio Hanoi travelers find online is really two studios:
- 59C Ly Nam De, Hoan Kiem, about 500 m from the Old Quarter (opened 2026, walk-ins welcome)
- 18th Floor, B14 Building, Lane 65 Pham Ngoc Thach, Dong Da (the original 155 m² studio, by appointment)
Tattoo studio Hanoi walk-ins: how it works at Ly Nam De
You can walk in without an appointment. Here is what usually happens at our tattoo studio in Hanoi:
- Free consultation: tell us your idea, size and placement. Bring reference photos if you have them.
- Quote before anything starts: you get a clear price based on size, detail and artist. No surprises later.
- Design: simple pieces are sketched on the spot and can often be tattooed the same day, depending on artist availability. Complex designs take 3 to 7 days for 1 to 2 drafts, and we revise until you are happy.
- Preparation: the artist explains each step, checks your blood pressure, and cleans the skin and the tools. Tools are new or fully sterilized.
- The session: a stencil goes on first, then the artist tattoos the approved design and watches your skin the whole time.
- Finish and aftercare: we clean and cover your tattoo, explain how to look after it, and send you photos of the finished piece.
Tip: if you only have a day or two in Hanoi, send your idea through our booking form before you arrive. The artist can start on your design early, so your time in the chair fits your trip. You can see every step on our tattoo process page.
How much does a tattoo cost at this tattoo studio in Hanoi?
Electric Tattoo uses one pricing formula for everyone, Vietnamese or foreign. The standard artist rate is 1,800,000–2,200,000 VND per hour (about $69–85). Tattoos under 30 minutes have a flat minimum of 1,000,000 VND (about $38), because every client gets a full new set of needles, ink and sterile tools. We tell you the estimated time before we start, and if the artist takes longer, you don’t pay extra.
As a rough guide, a mini tattoo of around 5 × 5 cm runs from 1 to 5.4 million VND (about $38 to $210) depending on detail and color. Larger pieces get one package price for the whole design after the consultation, split into sessions of up to about 7 hours, and you pay session by session. Master and award-winning artists charge 3,000,000 to 3,500,000 VND (about $115 to $135) per hour.

Walk-ins, flash and small tattoos
Small pieces are the easiest to fit into a walk-in visit at any tattoo studio Hanoi has. A fine line flower, a word or a small symbol can often be done the same day. For a bigger piece or a specific artist, book ahead so we can save the time for you.
Electric also runs flash days and flash souvenir tattoos. Dates and prices change, so follow our Instagram @electric.tattoo.vn or message the studio. You need to be 18 or older to get tattooed.
Getting a tattoo while traveling in Vietnam
A fresh tattoo is an open wound for the first couple of weeks, so the best tattoo studio Hanoi can offer still can’t heal it for you. Plan your trip around it:
- Get tattooed near the end of your stay in Hanoi, not right before a beach trip or a Ha Long Bay cruise.
- No swimming in the sea, pools or lakes until it is fully healed.
- Keep it out of direct sun. Vietnam’s sun is strong. Cover the tattoo with loose clothing while it heals.
- Hot, humid weather means more sweat. Rinse gently with clean water only (no bar soap or wet wipes), then pat dry with a clean paper towel.
- Skip alcohol for at least 7 days and avoid heavy workouts for about a week.
